A 1970's Revival Party Held at Church of the Ascension, The Avenue, Wembley from 8pm on Monday 4th October 2010. Remember
1977, the year of the Queen’s Golden Jubilee, the death of Elvis Presley and
Virginia Wade winning Or
were they? I have found a copy of the programme for the West MACs Ball held on
Friday 29th April 1977 at
Extras: General Stuart’s Reel; Baldovan Reel; Ashludie Rant One
obvious difference is the length of the programme, 24 dances plus 3 extras!
Well, we were all a lot younger then! The
Social on Monday 4th October will be selected dances from the
programme above and, as I don’t have any recording from the
band that played that night (Bobby Morton and his Band), music will be provided
by some of the legends of the time including Jimmy Shand, Andrew Rankine, Jim
Johnstone and Jimmy Blair. We will probably stick to dances that we still do today
with maybe one or two that have now fallen out of favour. So dig out your kipper ties, flared trousers and platform shoes and join us at the Church of the Ascension at 8pm. Graham Hamilton |
